Even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. Until, when they come to you, to argue with you, those who disbelieve will say, “These are nothing but myths of the ancients.” 815 6 26 وهم ينهون عنه وينأون عنه وإن يهلكون إلا أنفسهم وما يشعرون They keep others from it, and avoid it themselves; but they ruin only their own souls, and they do not realize. 816 6 27 ولو ترى إذ وقفوا على النار فقالوا يا ليتنا نرد ولا نكذب بآيات ربنا ونكون من المؤمنين If only you could see, when they are made to stand before the Fire; they will say, “If only we could be sent back, and not reject the revelations of our Lord, and be among the faithful.” 817 6 28 بل بدا لهم ما كانوا يخفون من قبل ولو ردوا لعادوا لما نهوا عنه وإنهم لكاذبون What they used to conceal before will become clear to them. And even if they were sent back, they would revert to what they were forbidden. They are liars. 818 6 29 وقالوا إن هي إلا حياتنا الدنيا وما نحن بمبعوثين And they say, “There is nothing but our life in this world, and we will not be resurrected.” 819 6 30 ولو ترى إذ وقفوا على ربهم قال أليس هذا بالحق قالوا بلى وربنا قال فذوقوا العذاب بما كنتم تكفرون If only you could see, when they are stationed before their Lord. He will say, “Is this not real?” They will say, “Yes indeed, by our Lord.” He will say, “Then taste the torment for having disbelieved.” 820 6 31 قد خسر الذين كذبوا بلقاء الله حتى إذا جاءتهم الساعة بغتة قالوا يا حسرتنا على ما فرطنا فيها وهم يحملون أوزارهم على ظهورهم ألا ساء ما يزرون Losers are those who deny the encounter with God. Then, when the Hour comes upon them suddenly, they will say, “Alas for us, how we have neglected it.” And they will carry their burdens on their backs—evil is what they carry. 821 6 32 وما الحياة الدنيا إلا لعب ولهو وللدار الآخرة خير للذين يتقون أفلا تعقلون The life of this world is nothing but game and distraction, but the Home of the Hereafter is better for those who are righteous. Do you not understand? 822 6 33 قد نعلم إنه ليحزنك الذي يقولون فإنهم لا يكذبونك ولكن الظالمين بآيات الله يجحدون We know that what they say grieves you.
