| | | God has sent down the best Message: a Scripture that is consimilar and oft-repeated: that causes the skins of those in awe of their Lord to creep. Then their skins and their hearts soften at the mention of God: such is God's guidance. He bestows it upon whoever He will; but no one can guide those whom God leaves to stray. |

4082 | 39 | 24 | أفمن يتقي بوجهه سوء العذاب يوم القيامة وقيل للظالمين ذوقوا ما كنتم تكسبون |
| | | What about the one who will have only his bare face to protect him from his terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection? The evil-doers will be told, "Taste what you have earned." |

4083 | 39 | 25 | كذب الذين من قبلهم فأتاهم العذاب من حيث لا يشعرون |
| | | Those before them also denied the truth, and the punishment fell on them from where they did not expect. |

4084 | 39 | 26 | فأذاقهم الله الخزي في الحياة الدنيا ولعذاب الآخرة أكبر لو كانوا يعلمون |
| | | God gave them a taste of humiliation in the life of this world, but the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew it. |

4085 | 39 | 27 | ولقد ضربنا للناس في هذا القرآن من كل مثل لعلهم يتذكرون |
| | | We have set forth to men all kinds of parables in this Quran so that they may take heed: |

4086 | 39 | 28 | قرآنا عربيا غير ذي عوج لعلهم يتقون |
| | | a Quran in Arabic, free from any ambiguity -- so that people may be mindful. |

4087 | 39 | 29 | ضرب الله مثلا رجلا فيه شركاء متشاكسون ورجلا سلما لرجل هل يستويان مثلا الحمد لله بل أكثرهم لا يعلمون |
| | | God sets forth a parable: there are two men -- one belonging to many masters, all disagreeing with one another, and the other belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? Praise be to God! But most of them have no knowledge. |

| | | You will die and they too will die, |
|
4089 | 39 | 31 | ثم إنكم يوم القيامة عند ربكم تختصمون |
| | | and, then on the Day of Resurrection you shall place your dispute before your Sustainer. |

4090 | 39 | 32 | فمن أظلم ممن كذب على الله وكذب بالصدق إذ جاءه أليس في جهنم مثوى للكافرين |
| | | Who, then, is more unjust than he who lies about God and rejects the truth when it comes to him? Is not Hell an abode for those who deny the truth? |
