| | | My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, |

| | | being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. |

| 2741 | 23 | 68 | أفلم يدبروا القول أم جاءهم ما لم يأت آباءهم الأولين |
| | | Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? |

| 2742 | 23 | 69 | أم لم يعرفوا رسولهم فهم له منكرون |
| | | Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? |

| 2743 | 23 | 70 | أم يقولون به جنة بل جاءهم بالحق وأكثرهم للحق كارهون |
| | | Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. |

| 2744 | 23 | 71 | ولو اتبع الحق أهواءهم لفسدت السماوات والأرض ومن فيهن بل أتيناهم بذكرهم فهم عن ذكرهم معرضون |
| | | Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them theirRemembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. |

| 2745 | 23 | 72 | أم تسألهم خرجا فخراج ربك خير وهو خير الرازقين |
| | | Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. |
