| | | And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, |

| | | Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? |

| 2494 | 21 | 11 | وكم قصمنا من قرية كانت ظالمة وأنشأنا بعدها قوما آخرين |
| | | How many a town (community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed, and raised up after them another people! |

| 2495 | 21 | 12 | فلما أحسوا بأسنا إذا هم منها يركضون |
| | | Then, when they perceived (saw) Our Torment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it. |

| 2496 | 21 | 13 | لا تركضوا وارجعوا إلى ما أترفتم فيه ومساكنكم لعلكم تسألون |
| | | Flee not, but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life, and to your homes, in order that you may be questioned. |

| 2497 | 21 | 14 | قالوا يا ويلنا إنا كنا ظالمين |
| | | They cried: "Woe to us! Certainly! We have been Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.)." |

| 2498 | 21 | 15 | فما زالت تلك دعواهم حتى جعلناهم حصيدا خامدين |
| | | And that cry of theirs ceased not, till We made them as a field that is reaped, extinct (dead). |

| 2499 | 21 | 16 | وما خلقنا السماء والأرض وما بينهما لاعبين |
| | | We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a (mere) play. |

| 2500 | 21 | 17 | لو أردنا أن نتخذ لهوا لاتخذناه من لدنا إن كنا فاعلين |
| | | Had We intended to take a pastime (i.e. a wife or a son, etc.), We could surely have taken it from Us, if We were going to do (that). |
