Do not set up another god besides Allah, or you will be cast into hell, being blameworthy and banished [from His mercy]. 2069 17 40 أفأصفاكم ربكم بالبنين واتخذ من الملائكة إناثا إنكم لتقولون قولا عظيما Did your Lord prefer you for sons, and [Himself] adopt females from among the angels? Indeed, you say a monstrous word! 2070 17 41 ولقد صرفنا في هذا القرآن ليذكروا وما يزيدهم إلا نفورا Certainly We have variously paraphrased [the principles of guidance] in this Quran so that they may take admonition, but it increases them only in aversion. 2071 17 42 قل لو كان معه آلهة كما يقولون إذا لابتغوا إلى ذي العرش سبيلا Say, ‘Were there [other] gods besides Him, as they say, they would surely have encroached on the Lord of the Throne. 2072 17 43 سبحانه وتعالى عما يقولون علوا كبيرا Immaculate is He, and greatly exalted above what they say!’ 2073 17 44 تسبح له السماوات السبع والأرض ومن فيهن وإن من شيء إلا يسبح بحمده ولكن لا تفقهون تسبيحهم إنه كان حليما غفورا The seven heavens glorify Him, and the earth [too], and whoever is in them. There is not a thing but celebrates His praise, but you do not understand their glorification. Indeed, He is all-forbearing, all-forgiving. 2074 17 45 وإذا قرأت القرآن جعلنا بينك وبين الذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة حجابا مستورا When you recite the Quran, We draw a hidden curtain between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, 2075 17 46 وجعلنا على قلوبهم أكنة أن يفقهوه وفي آذانهم وقرا وإذا ذكرت ربك في القرآن وحده ولوا على أدبارهم نفورا and We cast veils on their hearts, lest they should understand it, and a deafness into their ears.
