Is He who guides to the truth worthier to be followed, or he who is not guided unless shown the way? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?’ 1400 10 36 وما يتبع أكثرهم إلا ظنا إن الظن لا يغني من الحق شيئا إن الله عليم بما يفعلون Most of them just follow conjecture; indeed conjecture is no substitute for the truth. Indeed Allah knows best what they do. 1401 10 37 وما كان هذا القرآن أن يفترى من دون الله ولكن تصديق الذي بين يديه وتفصيل الكتاب لا ريب فيه من رب العالمين This Quran could not have been fabricated by anyone besides Allah; rather, it is a confirmation of what was [revealed] before it, and an elaboration of the Book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of all the worlds. 1402 10 38 أم يقولون افتراه قل فأتوا بسورة مثله وادعوا من استطعتم من دون الله إن كنتم صادقين Do they say, ‘He has fabricated it?’ Say, ‘Then bring a surah like it, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.’ 1403 10 39 بل كذبوا بما لم يحيطوا بعلمه ولما يأتهم تأويله كذلك كذب الذين من قبلهم فانظر كيف كان عاقبة الظالمين Indeed, they deny something whose knowledge they do not comprehend, and whose explanation has not yet come to them. Those who were before them denied likewise. So observe how was the fate of the wrongdoers! 1404 10 40 ومنهم من يؤمن به ومنهم من لا يؤمن به وربك أعلم بالمفسدين Some of them believe in it, and some of them do not believe in it, and your Lord best knows the agents of corruption. 1405 10 41 وإن كذبوك فقل لي عملي ولكم عملكم أنتم بريئون مما أعمل وأنا بريء مما تعملون If they deny you, say, ‘My deeds belong to me and your deeds belong to you: you are absolved of what I do and I am absolved of what you do.’ 1406 10 42 ومنهم من يستمعون إليك أفأنت تسمع الصم ولو كانوا لا يعقلون There are some of them who prick up their ears at you. But can you make the deaf hear even if they do not exercise their reason? 1407 10 43 ومنهم من ينظر إليك أفأنت تهدي العمي ولو كانوا لا يبصرون There are some of them who observe you.
